Indeed, Samsung doing far better than the trolls were trying to make it out to be.
I to wish we had at least 3 dominant OS, but 2 seems to be where it stays, even before Android and iOS, we had Symbian vs. Windows Mobile.
I like that prediction. Not because I want to see another company surpass Apple. Like the Star Wars "forever" franchise, Apple will still be relevant long after we all die just like more SW films will be made forever until the end of time. I just think Huawei is a pretty good company.
Huawei is like a combination of Xiaomi (sell Honor series online and very competitive prices), Oppo (design), and HTC (design), and Samsung (makes their own SoC). They make excellent designs but can cover the low end market too like Xiaomi. They have been a brand to watch during the last two years ever since their P6 and Mate series. If they rise to #2, it would be no fluke and purely hard work at their part.
Samsung isn't doing bad but they were at 29% last year or so. It isn't doom and gloom like some people may think to believe. Whenever they are #1 within the next 5-10 years is still anyone's guess. Samsung is like a Motorola or Nokia. They aren't a forever and ever relevant brand like Apple and Disney will be until the end of time.
+1
Thank you!
I to have been saying this for a long time, Huawei are the company to watch, not only do they make their own SoCs, they make their own network equipment and have great network IP, they are a freak mix of what you said PLUS Ericsson.
3-4years ago they implemented a brilliant strategy to 1st get into developing economies with good low end phones and cheap mobile wifi modems that they sold to networks like Vodafone. Since the P6 they ventured into the mid and high end with the Mate 7.
I give them 2years to either match or dethrone Samsung. They will surpass Apple with no problem, but it will take a wider and faster distribution network and better differentiation for them to pass Samsung.
