Had a XZ1 Compact from Aug prev coming from a 6s. Phone was still on a security update from last Sept which motivated the switch. Hardware was great, minus the sub-par camera.

Ended up selling it for an iPhone SE. It was hard looking past the software updates and the latest compact model didn't have a 3.5mm jack.

I really really hope another mainstream, well spec'd compact phone comes to market here in the states.

Sony has become a niche brand in smartphones. Even in Asia where it used to be one of the top brands, it got sidelined by the Chinese. They even pulled out from some markets.

Let’s face it, compact phones are a dying breed.

XZ4 beats the s10 in the latest benchmarking tests
Doesn’t matter. Samsung is really aggressive into marketing and having people to buy their phones. They offer a lot of trade ins, cash backs, and even include freebies (they offer free Tv for the Note 9). Sony can not afford to do major marketing push like that, and hence not many people will even be aware about the existence of their phones. Worse, Sony will usually ship their phones later than Samsung flagship thus being overshadowed by the Galaxy.

When Samsung is even facing slowdowns in today’s market, Sony seemingly is on life support like HTC.
