The S4 is definitely going to be interesting. If the batteries are in the bands, I wonder how much more of a mAh capacity it can hold. Looks promising for LTE use. And if a finger sensor is true, that's so much better than a pin.

Obviously the bands will be proprietary which is a downside. But an upside can possibly be, 3rd party bands with extended batteries.

Interesting. My issue with Samsung is that their watches are huge and they don’t even try to streamline them so smaller women can wear them. They came out and said with actual words that stung that it wasn’t worth their effort.

I think they're going for the big watch trend that many women seem to be wearing. I've seen at least 3 women at my gym wearing the Gear S3 Classic. I have to say, it looked really nice on them. None of them were wearing the stock black band. Form what I remember each one was wearing it with a red-ish color band. Band color and style make a world of difference. As for the next gear, I don't have a big wrist for a guy, but I still want the next Gear watch to have a slightly larger display. Minimum 1.5 inch display, but would be more happy with a 1.6-1.7 inch display.

They do have Gear Sport which is smaller and, maybe, more preferable by women.

I've got a Gear S3 Classic and my wife has the Gear Sport!

I love mine. She likes hers! If it were a bit slimmer (like S2 size) that would be better. But it's definitely quality.

I have the Gear S3 which came free from ATT with my Note 8. I have very narrow wrists and thought it would be way too bulky/perhaps unusable but surprisingly I have really enjoyed it. I have ordered small wristbands in various colors (leather, silicone) from Samsung, Amazon, and Strap Studio and have been very happy with the fit and also with the watch's function and battery life. Much more, in fact, than my 38mm Apple Watch Series 2. Pleasantly surprised and looking forward to Gear S4.

Couldn't care less, personally.

It does pretty much everything I want it to.
Same, I don't really see the appeal for apps on a watch..for me anyway.
I use it as a bridge device, phone in pocket , watch on wrist. I can receive texts and calls without having to get my phone out while I have my hands full or when they're dirty, which they mostly are at work.
Changing the watchface is my pleasure on my S3, I haven't even tried an app as such.
Different strokes for different folks and all that though..

Yes I wish it worked better with WhatsApp and offered my favorite weather app but other than that my main uses for my watch are linking with my phone for messaging and calls, also the ability to use it independently for calls/messages if I’m out and about and either forget my phone at home or decide to leave it in the car.

To be honest I don’t use apps on my Apple Watch. All I care about is being able to receive and respond to notifications. I think because apps took so long to open on the first gen Apple Watch I just didn’t get into the habit of using them. Even now that I’ve upgraded to the series 3 which opens apps quickly I don’t bother with them.

Guess it depends on your usage but for me apps like

Pocket cast
Watch player depending on if I go without my phone
SofaScore
Fitness apps

Are all apps I use on a daily basics. Even my Natwest app I use regularly.

This was only really ideal on series 3 as past watches were too slow for my liking.

I’d probably use the apps more if I could actually make use of the LTE (o2). I didn’t know that pocket casts had an app of tbe Apple Watch.

One app that I liked on Android Wear and Apple Watch that's not available on Gear Watches, is the Enpass(password manager) app. Other than that, I don't really feel like I'm missing out on anything.

Yeah it's really good in fairness. Very easy and quick too.

Does the watch need an app or just great functionality? Does everything need apps?
Depends if you're happy with just notifications I suppose.

Imagine a watch fueled by a Bixby or Google Assistant. Integration with Pocket Casts or GPM could be integration with a server.

I'm shocked google havn't come out with a watch that does this. I'm sure samsung will put bixby with future gear watches though. They are trying to push that hard at the moment.

siri on the watch is good in fairness. for the task I need it to do it does it fine

Siri on my watch does little and I hate it. It never understands me and fails at even the smallest tasks. And the Siri watch face does little.

Mine is decent at understanding me luckily. More watch faces would be good but I just use my nike watch face.
