Ok, this thread is GOING to be a thread where readers post photos of their geekish tattoos. But FIRST, you have to help ME choose just which geek tattoo I am about to have inked on my right shoulder.

As is explained in my blog post (which I will link to in a moment), I have on tattoo and have long been considering what to get as a second. I finally settled on a Space Invader as sort of a crude petroglyph found on the walls of the cave of computing history, to be slightly poetic. It captures my intense fondness for retro computing, gaming, and the 80s in general (though S.I. was released in '78...).

SO, please cast your vote (by way of leaving a comment in my blog post, linked below) as to which of the six possibilities you personally find the most asthetically pleasing. It is my intention to attempt to have this done on Monday, May 7th.

See the choices: Call to Readers: Help Choose My Retro Tattoo

Much obliged.

I have one in mind. Will discuss it Monday. Thinking 2.5" or 3" wide.

you might have to go with the 3" just because of how blocky it will be. it won't break down over time at that size.

Look, if you don't like it, don't comment. There's no need to be a dick to someone else like that. It's not on your body, it's on his, and clearly it holds a meaning to him that it doesn't for you.

First of all, i was commenting on it what I think. There is no stipulation that says you can't disagree. However, you're probably right as there wasn't anything constructive or that has some sort of benefit to the topic. I've just always had that mentality as to why one might get a tattoo. However to comment on the tattoo itself, I'm glad to see its something that relates to you and has a meaning.

Nice!:D
It still looks pretty red and swollen though.

I don't have any tattoos, so just out of curiosity how long did it take and was it painful?

Well, the photo was taken by the tattoo artist, moments after it was complete, so red and swollen it was. That goes completely away in about a week.

The tattoo took about 1 hour to have inked and, yea, it's a somewhat painful process - but nothing unbearable. It's much more painful to have a tattoo done where bone is close to the skin, like an ankle, or where flesh is particularly sensitive, like the area at the back of one's knee or one's eyelid. My previous tattoo took 3 hours and was a good bit more painful, I must say.

Glad you and most here seem to like it. :) I am well pleased with it so far.
