So guys im running mavericks for a while now, because all of the horror stories of yosemite. So now im ready so i skipped yosemite and went straight to El capitan!

the geek bench scores make me a little sad.. run it like 3 times.[fyi left el capitan, right mavericks] Schermafbeelding 2015-10-01 om 18.44.52.png

Also im rocking an Intel 320 SSD. The write speed keeps dropping to almost 20MB/s if i run it longer. Pretty strange! never had any issue on Mavericks.

Someone knows a fix?

It might be showing lower if you ran that right after installing? Sometimes spotlight has to re-index and stuff like that. But holy crap, my iPhone 6s geek benches 2500/4400!

Damn, I wish I would have done a geekbench prior to the update.

I did run a Valley benchmark but since that is OpenGL based there was obviously no change.

Cinebench disappoints on El Capitan. OpenGL dropped from 73fps to 62 fps and CPU went from 810 to 770.
It seems that El Capitan is not faster.

My late 2013 15'' rMBP runs perfectly fine on Maverick, I am not gonna upgrade to El Capitan anytime soon

Unigine Heaven 4.0 on a MacPro 5,1. Preset Extreme, quality Ultra.
a) Yosemite 15,2 fps.
b) El Capitan 11,6 fps and no sound.
El Capitan is slower.

Do you have any screenshots or anything? OpenGL should be unaffected like my screenshot above. Notice I left the dates on the top as well.

It looks like you are using 2 different versions of GeekBence. If that's the case, the results are probably not reliable.

Where did you get that from? Both say geekbench 3.3.0, just one is an image pulled from Dropbox methinks.

I don't know what wen wrong here, but El Capitan is certainly not slower. I run heavy-duty statistical simulations on my Mac as well as play games under OS X and I would certainly notice a >30% decrease in performance. You must have something resource-intensive running in the background or your benchmark app gets throttled.

Dude your computer is pretty old, late 2008. I wouldn't expect any performance improvements with an OS written 7 years later. Still there's not much difference between between the scores. Also, geekbench needs to be updated for El Cap and Metal etc. I'm sure you will see performance improvements after that.

Geekbenches is CPU only. Metal does nothing for it.

Huh? My computer is a 2013, I think you meant to tell the OP that?

Geekbench shouldn't depend on the OS anyway. I don't think it uses system frameworks for the computation. Just basic C functions that haven't changed for decades.

Looks more like a bug in Unigine, since there is no sound. And I wouldn't trust Cinebench at all. Results are not reproducible or make no sense, most of the time.

The app is more mature and better written on OSX than Windows and because of that is one of the few benchmarks in which OSX beats Windows.

I cant help but see "proto" in the geekbench score... does your Macbook Pro have any stickers saying DVT on it or a red logic board? if so you most likely have a very rare Prototype Mac heh

Mine went up from Mavericks to El Capitan...slightly. ;) I'm disappointed that I never ran it while Yosemite was on it, mais c'est la vie.
