Could be my imagination, but looks like apple has been optimizing...

And, yes, I know that GB4 probably doesn't test the worst case scenario (serving up sql on linux), and it may not even test anything of importance. Still, I was curious.

GB4 results can vary dramatically, partially due to chance and partially due to what you happen to have loaded in the background at the time.

For example, my i7-7700K would score over 20000, or at least in the high 19xxx range. Meanwhile, there is a guy here complaining that he can't break 18000. That's a 10% difference.

Best would probably be to run the test several times with 10.13.2, and then run it again several times with the supplemental security update, changing nothing else in the parameters.

I suppose it would. However, I've already installed the security update.
