I have a single crack in my screen glass. LCD and touch screen works OK above and below crack.

It seems Apple wants $650+ to repair. One 3rd party repair says unit too new and he can’t get parts yet. Another wants $439 and says he has parts.

Perhaps a glass screen protector would be enough?

I already bought a new unit with the Apple 2 hour delivery. Great! So the broken one is a backup.

Screen replaced. Very good job.

Now, what does one do with 2 identical iPads?

Well, I may have heaped praise too soon. Using a drawing app there is a part of the screen that acts like the Bermuda Triangle. If you draw a line through it the line breaks off and then picks up about 3/8” later. Any icon on the desktop in the area requires multiple taps to open.

Bad replacement?

lol just a 30 day warranty. Most phone/device repair places around here are 90 days.

"It seems Apple wants $650+ to repair. "

That's nuts. A whole brand new one costs $650.
