General care instructions and accessories to maintain the investment(MB or MBP)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help to contribute to this thread some information on how to maintain your investment (MB or MBP).

As of now I have just purchased ONLY the MacBook Pro, no additional accessories to help keep it clean and protect it from use, scratches, discoloring, etc.

I would like to know what is the best way to go about cleaning the shell of the MBP (outside, bottom, keys, the palm rest area), any prevention methods (protection for the palm rest area, keyboard cover, etc), and anyways to clean and protect the screen (solutions, protectors, etc).

Also maybe even some other things that may improve the system (maybe a stand that will hep with cooling)

for keeping it clean, the iSkin keyboard covers are great, and not too expensive.

for screen cleaning, i use a microfibre cloth, like the ones which you clean glasses with, or if its really caked on, a lightly dampened cotton cloth.

for stands, you can't beat an iCurve with a wireless KB+M. the screen is at a good height, and it keeps the machine somewhat cool.

Well the apple bluetooth keyboard is as good as they get. for mouse a lot have bought V270 from Logitech. You can try the apple mighty mouse, but i really dislike that design. So I went with the logitech bt mouse.

as said above, the Apple bluetooth keyboard is as good as it gets. If you get an Apple mouse, it shows the amount of juice left in the batteries in system preferences, but i've heard people don't particularly like them. I have a Kensington PilotMouse, and it works for me. I haven't tried many others, though.

I use the V270 too and it is an amazing mouse. Very comfortable and very efficient.

Question to the others, will combining the keyboard with mouse slow down the mouse. I've read all those reports on multi bluetooth device interference and slow down. What do you think.

Right now I use a notebook two fan cooler (Antec, but have not seen any change in internal temperature using Temp Monitor. The outside though is really cold). And a USB apple keyboard which works great so far.

Can you get these microfibre cloths at a macstore? I used a wet klinex to clean my glossy screen after an accidental finger-print on it but I guess that should be avoided.

I bought a "waterproof" laptop sleeve and keep my MBP in that and, in addition, my bag has a laptop sheath so its doubly protected. I learned a lesson from my video iPod which I didn't buy a case for until after I had scratched the screen.

The laptop sleeve comes with a keyboard cloth but I'm still using the thin styrofoam thing that came with the laptop (between the screen and the keyboard). The guy at the store said it would be ruined in a few days but so far its lasted and a friend of mine has had his for a long time on this powerbook. Any reason to ditch the foamy thing in favour of the keyboard cloth?

go to any camera store you can get a microfre cloth... yes, kleenex is bad for clean screen

microfiber clothes are used a lot to clean cars so u can find like a 3 pack at any car care store. i have them and they work like magic.
