iPad Pro General > iPad storage discrepancy?

I recently setup my iPad and used iTunes to copy my photos to the device. It’s the same photos folder that I use to sync with my iPhone via iTunes.
Under general then iPad storage it’s showing 80GB of photos yet on my iPhone photos is showing 59GB for photos. The photo and video count are approx the same. I did some research on this matter and the only thing that I could find was referencing deleted photos not being truly deleted etc. but this didn’t apply to my case. Anyone have any ideas why the iPad is showing 20GB more usage for photos than my iPhone ?

This might be a bit obvious, but have you tried restarting your device to see if the number fixes itself?

No iCloud photos is turned off. But iCloud Photo Library is turned on still don’t know the difference as I asked this question a couple of days ago in another thread I created.
well what I did just now was sync my iPad to a folder on my pc containing just one picture, this effectively deleted all the photos on my iPad.I was left with approx 7GB of photos on my iPad after the process. Still the maths doesn’t add up. As my iPhone syncs to the same folder which shows up as approx 59GB on iPhone for same folder being synced. This 59+7 = 66GB which is still not near the 82GB iPad was stating.

Syncing photos in the way compresses them (as appropriate to the device).

The iPad has a bigger screen. The files sizes are larger.

I just re-synced after wiping photos and again total photo storage shows as 82GB. Compared to iPhones 59GB. Oh well.
