General question about the temeperature of ipad

Mine gets hot too...I think it is normal. Every electronic device that I use for prolonged periods gets hot. As long as it isn't hot to the point that it is uncomfortable to hold and as long as you aren't getting overheating warnings it is probably fine.
There's no active cooling system so it'll get warm, yeah. I bought an Apple case and it seems to either dissipate it well or simple prevents it from feeling all that warm. I didn't even think about the heat until I saw this thread, it works so well.

The A4 chip is at the back top right side along with most of the motherboard. Or it could be just your hands warming it up from holding it. As long as it is not over 95F it will be fine.
Any media intensive applications (games, movies, etc) require more power to operate.
More power consumption means more heat.
As other people have said, the iPad, unlike a MacBook or PC, doesn't have any mechanical cooling systems. The back of the case acts as a heat sink and dissipates the excess heat.
You really shouldn't worry about it in the slightest. The iPad has automatic temperature monitoring and would warn you if it was too hot.
