I purchased my iphone on the first day, and paid 600 bucks for it. Never violated any of the Terms and usage. Monday night a strip of the iphone became unresponsive. I did a back up and restore and nothing works. I had read that there had been problems last year with some parts of the screen failing to respond, either the top half or bottom.

Mine is weirder, it is only a small strip across the screen, if I bring up the number pad all the buttons except 4 5 6 respond.

Anyone else have a similar issue?

I took it to the apple store, unfortunately I did not buy the apple care. But I was hoping that they would still send it out for repair. To no avail their solution is for me to buy a replacement, for 200 bucks.

Since I paid 600 I think they owe me 2 phones.

Please PM if you have had a similar situation. I plan on filing a Class action Lawsuit.

First off, why does this say G1?

Second, why would they owe you TWO phones?

First generation iphone unresponsive screen

I meant a generation one phone, and them owing me 2 phones is me being sarcastic. I just feel let down, after paying 650 bucks for a phone. I would expect it to last more than 17 months. And it has been documented that the company that had supplied the screens had a higher than expected failure rate on their products. I feel is was a design flaw.

Oh ok, srry If i seemed a little rude before, I just thought u were luring us in with a G1 googlephone thread.

Anyway i dont really know what to tell you mate, theres a reason why people always go with applecare. Some may think its not worth it, but it DEFFINATLY is.
