I have a gaming mouse that does not have OS X drivers, I'm mostly using it for windows but would like to use it for a few steam games in CrossOver just for whatever. Problem is, the games while in OS X either don't recognize the buttons or aren't binded correctly. I am using USB Overdrive to allow the mouse buttons to work fine while surfing the web etc (mouse 4 = back mouse 5= expose) but while in CS:S for example, mouse5 will still be expose rather than in game mouse5..

ultimately I'm wondering if there are drivers of some sort I could install for a generic 5 button mouse in OSX, just to have all 5 button support without the need of USB Overdrive and hopefully then working in games for mapping. Thanks!

most likely.. no
your not going to find any drivers to help you with that
you have to remember running crossover to run anything is basically you using a program to make a virtual xp to run a program still on the mac ex. like parallels so what ever you set on the mac and do on the crossover it will still register the mac and not the crossover because mac osx just sees it purely as a program that functions with whatever its set up with ex. your 5 is expose so even when your running the program it will still be again expose not a gaming button.

yeah I figured, guess I'll browse the creative site to see if there's any mac driver support.

Use USB Overdrive or whatever and create a new application specific profile for the game you want, then set the mouse buttons to keystrokes corresponding to the function you want (and if one doesn't exist, go into the game and set one). Not nearly as easy as just setting "mouse5" in the game but sometimes this is the only way it can be done.
