I scheduled a genius bar appointment for my iPhone. My accelerometer is defective, it doesn't rotate until you hit the phone, and I have quite a bit of dust under the screen. My phone is unlocked and jailbroken on Tmobile, and I do not have an AT&T contract anymore. I plan to restore my phone to stock tomorrow, but how do I bring it in and prove my accelerometer issue if I can't activate my phone? What are the steps I should take to get my phone replaced?

I believe that you only need to show :apple: the hardware issues, the dust under the glass might be due to a leak through.
If your iPhone the original one or 3G ?
If you 'bought' a 3G or 3GS and you transfer your original iPhone line to the new iPhone, then you can activate your old iPhone to use it like an iPod Touch...
Perhaps others MR members can elaborate on that better than me...

My phone is a 3G, and I don't have an active AT&T contract, I still have my SIM though.
