Has anyone else had this problem on a 1st Gen iphone running iphone OS 3.0 beta 5, where when you create a genius playlist it randomly saves it under your playlists? I dont have to select the save option on the genius playlist. It automatically saves and right now I have 4 genius playlists all named Genius (see attached picture). Also does anyone know how to delete these playlists from the iphone?

Strange - Normally you have the one Genius Name at the top, then the genius playlists you make shuols be titled by the track you selected the genius playlist to be created from, and they'd have a genius symbol to the right.

It's likely you made 3 normal playlists in iTunes, all called Genius. (Which is possible in iTunes, having checked), then had them synced? You can delete them within iTunes. (And you can check your Music setting for your phone there just to double check. Normally as you said, you should see a New, Refresh and Save set of buttons at the top of a genius list you've created, just above the top track which should be the one you wanted the genius list made from.

Is Apple intentionally giving out false rumor by any chance?

Unlike other upcoming Apple device rumor in recent yrs, it seems like latest iPhone rumor is more confusing than concrete(as in there is no specific rumor we can point at and 'kind of' trust). Many somewhat trustable rumors either lack additional supporting rumors or contradicted by other trustable rumors.(like 2 model rumor was confirmed by the product code but somewhat contradicted by the recent screenshot rumor)

Is it may be the case of Apple intenTionally muddling things up like when the first iPhone came out or is it just that there are two many people trying to get their minute of fame by making up the rumors?

EDIT: I was suppose put this up as a separate thread... but made mistake. Sorry about posting totally random thing that has nothing to do with this thread....

I tried making a genius playlist from a song and it worked fine. It saved the genius playlist with the name of the song I used. The 4 playlists named genius dont even show up in itunes when I connect my iPhone. I have no idea how those got there and how to remove them.I guess i will have to restore iphone or delete all music.

Have you scrolled down to the left hand side sectin in iTunes where PLAYLISTS is, to go through all of them? they'll likely all be residing there in the Playlist section - Double checking the Music tab when you've got it connected - to see if there the playlists are there if you scroll down.

Oops - sorry for caps - just the way it is in iTunes :)
