Genius Mixes for iPhone with 3.1 bugged?

I tried playing with the Genius Mixes feature today and it seems very bugged. It lags a lot, will crash my iPod and send me back to the home screen, and just doesn't seem very smooth.

I will try it more later to see if it wears off or if it was just a specific issue at the time, but just curious if anyone else experienced this yet?

On iTunes 9 it is very smooth and nice for me.
 
For the iPod or App Store?

Works fine for me with the iPod/haven't tried on the App Store yet.
 
Yes, I experienced the exact same thing this morning.

It has only happened once. When going from 1 mix to another, I got a Now playing Unknown Unknown Unknown message and it was track 1 of 0.

Hasn't happened since. No idea what happened.
 
I had the same problem repeatedly this morning. Just tried again and it works. Strange.
 
its a really cool feature but it has crashed on me too. Also there only seems to be 9 genius mixes on my iphone rather than the 12 on itunes 9.

Is this a space issue? Do you have a bigger library than capacity on your iPhone?
 
I tried it more this afternoon and everything seemed to be fine. That is weird (like the poster above me stated). Maybe it just needed to get broken in?

Anyway, you access it by going to More and it's the selection in the middle. It's a pretty cool feature though.

And yeah I have 11.30 GB of music on my 16 GB iPhone 3G so maybe a bigger library makes things a bit difficult for it at first.

Does your COMPUTER have 11.30 GB of music too, or does it have more? I can't for the life of me get it to work on my 16GB iPhone with my itunes computer library that has roughly 50GB of music.

My Mac has 11.70. So just a little more. But wow, yours is a huge difference .. I wonder if thats the problem?

That's exactly what you need to do.

There's a new agreement you must agree to before you will see the genius mixes. Do this, then sync the mixes on your device. Simple enough.
 
how come i couldnt make this to work on my iphone? I've turned it off and turned it on again then update genius but nothing happens. I am manually managing my music on my phone, is this the culprit why it is not working?
 
This thing is ridiculously bugged.

I have the thing showing a cover art compilation for the wrong albums in some of my mixes.

My iPod app just randomly quit as well.

Trying to do other things while playing a genius song causes the music to skip.

Nice... it's cool and all that Apple wants to add features like this, but it's obvious the 3G can't handle them appropriately.
 
Won't work with manual management, once I set it up to "Sync Selected Playlists, Artists and Genre it worked fine.

This happened to me as well yesterday .. I was listening to a Rock Mix and another cover art compilation was showing up behind it for another Mix.

It's definitely buggy.

And also, is it just me or do they play the same songs? Or does it just take songs from the same general artists in that Mix and mix them up? I feel like they just play the same songs over which makes me think once I listen to all 12 of them a few time they'd be worthless?
 
Yes, very bugged, now the cover art for the genius mixes are showing for me as covers for other albums. iPhone 3GS sometimes freezes when playing the mixes or even the normal genius, which never caused a problem before on the 3GS or the 3G I used to have. Sometimes the mixes are there, sometimes they disappear. Really bugged feature.
 
I must be missing something. I have two mixes on iTunes but only one showing on iPhone. I synced them both.
 
THe genius mixes are very buggy on my iPhone.. Keeps quiting and freezing. On my mac the mixes seem to have a lot more songs in them, I think it takes about 30 or so songs from each mix when you transfer it onto your phone. I'm not sure if mixes are using the genre information though or if they have programmed songs to select because sometimes they have a random song in them that doesn't suite the genre. Nice feature though.
