for some reason i dont get all the advertised gestures on my jan 2009 macbook like swipe between full screen app is it down to the year of my macbook or do they need enabling cheers

For some reason, I don't get all of the advertised gestures on my Jan. 2009 MacBook; like "swipe between full-screen apps". Is it down to the year, or do they need enabling?

You can enable the gestures that you want to use in: System Preferences - Trackpad. I can't remember which ones are enabled by default.

There're a few tabs along the top of the menu-pane; you want the "more gestures" tab.
Im still not seeing any of the tabs for more gestures. I dont seem to be able to swipe between full screen apps is this to do with the age of my macbook.
Why is 3 finger swipe limited to full screen aps?
What I like about Macs is that on the whole they are very logical. BUT why is the three finger swipe to switch between apps limited to those set for full screen covering up the status bar only?
I can see the point that if they are not a certain size it can get confusing but I don't see why the gesture could not apply to those with full screen width, perhaps even most of the height but not actually covering up the status bar.
I like the idea of using gestures instead of CMD Tab but I also like the status bar and I'd like someone to explain why they could not use the three finger swipe for all apps that are full width at least but have a height that does not cover the status bar
(I know there is the odd exception to this rule like Google Chrome for instance but the native Mac apps and many more won't swipe by gesture unless set to cover the status bar)

You could do this by assigning three-finger swipe to the app switcher, instead of fullscreen apps. That way it would include both those that are full screen, as well as any other program that is running.
