get a mac mini?

i was thinking of getting a mac mini since its apple's least expensive computer and i'm able to get a good discount from someone i know. i just want to know if its worth it or am i better off getting a macbook/macbook pro 13"

If you don't need portability, have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, the Mac Mini is the choice.

my sz should last a while longer before i need a new laptop. and i currently have no desktop anymore. but is it any faster than say the 13" macbook or about the same and i have a monitor but ill probably get a bigger one on black friday or some time before xmas.

Its about the same (uses identical hardware).

Yes. A desktop one would either be really slow or be too hot.
