I replaced my ipad2, it's aroudn 10 years old, when the app for our settop recording box stopped working.
I replaced it with a brand new[last year] ipad. I also have linux and windows desktops.

I have just put a telepromter app on the ipad2.
The ipad2 seems to be worthless, so I was glad I found a use for it.
The app works perfectly.
But it's far easier to write the script on a desktop.
I was wriing the script in one of googles apps, so it was easy to get at on googledrive
but I could save it to icloud if I had to. It obviously going to be easy to get at a text file on the old ipad,
when the text is on googledrive or icloud. Err wrong.

No google product will let me login on the ipad2, the progress thing just keeps progressing and never
gets anywehere; google products does include gmail.
So it's going to have to be icloud, well that is pretty much the same, it's not allowing me access to icloud.
I have tried a few email addresses I have the server details for, it doesn't want to know with any of them.

Suggestions.

What version of iOS runs your iPad? You can try to use a throw way mail service e.g. mailinator to receive mails on the iPad - just enter any name in the text field “enter public mailinator mailbox” in left upper corner, Safari will the open this mailbox and you then can send mails to it via the-name—chosen@mailinator.com. As long as the mailbox is open in a Safari window you should be able to receive mails there.

I had no luck with any sort of mail I tried.
I started an ftp service on my laptop. I can get files off the laptop on
everything I have, except the old iPad!
I thought I was going to have to resort to using http.
Then I tried putting a txt file on git hub and accessing it on the iPad, it works.

I'm pretty sure iOS 9 has expired certificates in the cert store at this point - you can replace them to restore some online services, but many of the apps are still going to be too old to be useful.
