Hi,

New with this, so please bear with me a bit.
Have a relatively new iMac.

Trying to put together a nice folder of mountain pix, but only "high resolution" ones.

I go to Google images, Tools, and select one of the options to only
show photos over, e.g., a few thousand x a few thousand.
Picture is even labeled with this very high resolution number.

I save it to the desktop, but when I look at Get Info, and
the "Dimensions," it shows only a few hundred x a few hundred.

Why ? Shouldn't it show the very high resolution number ?

What exactly is meant by Dimensions ?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob, Are you right clicking then "save as" or "save target as"? the former downloads the thumbnail, not the actual image. The latter downloads the image that is linked.

Also, is this a standard google images search? If so, please can i ask you to also select the appropriate "Usage Rights" drop down setting so you arent using anyone's work without permission - otherwise that is stealing. Just because it appears in a search doesn't mean you have the right to copy it and use it.

[doublepost=1526556794][/doublepost]Hi Robert,

Much thanks for help.

I have been doing the "Save As"

I have no "Save Target As" when doing a right Mouse Click.
Why not ?

What I do have on clicking is:

Open image in new tab
Open image in new window
Saveimage to Download
Save image as
Add image to Photos
Use image as Desktop Picture
etc.

So, how should I save a selected image at the high resolution to be able to
use it later as "Desktop" or as a "Screen Saver", please ?

I only download the free ones, that say for free download, and no copyright restrictions.

Again, thanks for help,
Bob

You need to open the picture then right click and save or when you open the image there should be a specific download button if it’s from a image sharing website.

Agree with Akash above. You need to click through to the image to where you are viewing it full size, then do the right cllck save image. Some of them give a save target as link.

Bottom line in the search results you are only seeing a thumbnail.
