Hello every Macuser :)

Now it so I have great desire to remove my CD reader in my iMac 27" 2009. I wonder if it goes? I want to have the SSD and then a hard drive in it. I thought when taking out my hard drive and buy a less quiet. Because I have a seagate and I think it makes to much noise for me. What size hard drives in the iMac? 2.5 or 3.5 SATA?

The hard drive is a 3.5", but you can replace it with a 2.5" by using a suitable mounting bracket. You can also replace the DVD drive with a 2.5" drive by using a slimline SATA to regular SATA converter.

(Note that when replacing the 3.5" drive in late-2009 or mid-2010 models you may run into problems due to proprietary temperature sensor cable. Solutions include replacing the cable with the proper part for the new drive, or using the same brand of drive, or replacing the cable with an external temperature sensor, or shorting the temperature sensor and controlling HD fans with special software.)

I was told by some sales reps that it is not possible to install an SSD to replace the superdrive in the late 27" 2009 imac. Plus the sata connector speed is not the same as if placing the ssd in the location of the stock HDD.
