Well I installed beta a few weeks ago and now I am ready to get out. I tried doing a restore but was getting errors. Put phone in DFU mode and tried again. Still not getting anywhere.

I installed the newest version of iTunes to get out of beta of that and I get farther but still won't install. Now I am stuck and my phone is bricked. Is this phone done for? Thanks

Very unlikely it's done for, I expect folks here can help. Key question though is "What is the specific error message?"

Make sure if you edited /etc/hosts to redirect gs.apple.com you back out of that change; if you did it manually you'll know how to go back, if you did it via TinyUmbrella, make sure to turn off the Set Hosts to Cydia setting under Advanced.

I've read that there may have been Apple server problems during the mad iOS5 rush.

You're not putting it in DFU mode, trust me. If you did, then it would install the software without a hitch. Google how to properly DFU.

Well I got this fixed. Here is what I had to do.

Re-install iTunes
Repair disk permissions

Then I was able to restore my iPhone. Man that was close
