So I switched to Cingular recently, from t-mobile. I avoided paying the early termination fee because I proved to t-mobile that I have moved to an area without t-mobile coverage, which is basicly everything thats not inside a city. Anyways the deal is you fax them a bit of mail that comes to you at your new address. I really did move outside there coverage area but for others very unhappy with there service looking to get out you could have a bill of yours sent to maybe your wacky aunts house who lives in the country and fax it to t-mobile, thus waving your ETF.

For the record I was very happy with t-mobile and it's a shame I had to switch, there customer service was top notch. A far cry from the fools I speak with at cingular.

I have T-Mobile and it's great. The customer service is very good and responsive. The iPhone is out of my price range and I don't need a smart phone. I'll probably get the Rizr.

I was walking past a Cingular booth yesterday and I heard the word iPhone. I stopped and pretended to check out a phone next to the two guys talking. According to the Cingular worker, the iPhone:

- Had over 10 patents.
- When "wasn't there some law suit?" was asked by the customer, the worker - said "uh. i'm not sure. maybe it was with LG?"
- Multi-touch did not come up in the discussion.

Since this is an iPhone forum, why didn't you wait for iPhone to come out first? Cingular may not offer iPhone to existing (especially recent) Cingular customers without charging higher price.

Like I said I really did have no service in the location I moved to so I couldn't wait. But regardless I will be in line at the apple store on day one :D .

Sucks you had to leave, I love T-Mobile.

If Cingular was the only carrier in my area, I'd either move, or go without a cell phone.....

I have a Sidekick III and I love it.

Anyone have this phone? If you do, after you updated to 10.4.9, does your Mac recognize the USB from phone to cpu?

I like t-mobile and be using them since I was 16 with their prepaid plan and now a family plan. I would get an iPhone but my SDA does what I need it to do, be a good bluetooth modem.

I left sprint to go to T-Mobile. No dropped calls, better pricing, NO ROAMING, more features, awesome phones and I love the support. I have no plans on leaving. The iPhone is too expensive, too many features/apps I'd never use and I have no desire to leave T-Mobile.

It's a shock to me that so many people are happy with T-Mobile. I've had nothing but bad service and mass-produced, can't think beyond the script in front of them, customer service. After asking what they could do for us when we started getting 0 to 1 bar in our own house, had a CS guy yell at my girlfriend and tell her maybe she should pay up and quit. I haven't renewed my contract in over a year just because I was hoping for the iPhone to come out and save me. I think I'll try the address trick to help my girlfriend get free.

On another note, does anyone know if you can keep your number when you transfer services, and if so, how?

I can pretty much say the same for Cingular. They were useless.

I have not had a single problem with T-Mobile. I plan to be with them for a long time.

I don't like T-Mobile very much at all for their coverage. They get absolutely deplorable coverage in my house and the whole block around my house. I have to press against the window in the far end of the house to even get one bar. I'll get an iPhone once it's unlocked to work with T-Mobile since I'm stuck with them for another year and a half.

Read my post right above yours. if I were you, I'd use that loophole to drop T-Mobile and get your number ported over to Cingular with a shiny new phone...then you'll be all set when the iPhone comes out.

I'm on my parent's contract and they get a really good deal, so without me paying for my own contract I can't switch to cingular :(.
