I was actually thinking this as well...I think its possible, but I think it'd more likely be 19" inches if they do release one.

These are not laptops. Notebook-type computers that are 19" and above (some may place 17" in this category as well) are desktops that can be easily transported if necessary.

17.3 Pounds. whoa...

Don't forget though, a lot of these other computer companies advertise a screen size that isn't always 100% accurate. I have a 17 Inch Dell and it is nowhere as big (screen wise) as the 17 Inch MBP. If apple put out a 20 inch MBP, it would be even bigger than this...

There was a huge thread here last May and on digg about that Dell behemoth...

Apple was the first to introduce a 17" laptop, but I'm thinking that 20" is just too big...

If they have a battery is a portable big laptop.
Ugly? yes, but Apple maybe make a best concept...
I see the acer in a shopping, is incredible big display, i prefer a big laptop that a desktop because i live in 2 countrys and travel with the big box it so heavy.
This is my reason ;)

20" is too big for a laptop or notebook- apple might aswel add a battery option to the iMac if they were going to do that cos lets face it that Dell is basicly a bad rip off of the iMac! And the Acer would just be unusuable as a laptop anyway its just too heavy you couldnt carry it around without breaking your back.

Man, that 20-inches is a bit overdone. No one needs a laptop that big, and there's no way that anyone would be able to carry that thing around. 17" is probably the limit.

They have the 20" Acer in display at CompUSA; it is so ridiculously large that it isn't even funny. It's sole purpose is basically to be able to be moved from room to room, etc. There's no scenario where it would be useful where a laptop or notebook is right now.

I don't think it's certain that Apple would never do it. But they won't do it until... it can get at least 3 hours of battery life, weigh less than eight pounds, and be relatively close to 1" thick.

its just a portable desktop. you guys acting like they are somehow useless because they dont go on your lap are morons. its for people who need to move their desktop around alot and dont want to lug a friggin tower and monitor around.

;) Not much the portable meaning at my opinion... but a nice replacement for a desktop computer and still have some mobility!

Nah, I'd prefer a 20'' laptop in this case... an iMac is heavy... not counting that you'd have to plug in the wall everytime you needed to use it lol :p

You mean like the iMac? :p

good lord, sometimes i get sick of carrying around my mbp on campus, i imagine a 20 incher would cause some serious irreversible back damage.....dang!

i even got to use my friends 17 inch mbp when she was gone (she didnt want to leave it at home, theft-wise from her roomies) and i nearly died carrying it around

i could not even imagine that, do they even make backpacks that big?

My Photograph bag is toooo much heavy, around 5kg without the tripod ;)

I think the people need more excercise
