I pruned my music collection a bit (I did it because I need more space and the music sucked). The problem i'm having is that I just deleted the songs off the HD, but they are still in my Music Library in iTunes. I want to get rid of them in iTunes so that I don't have so many damn artists I don't like in the list. I've heard about a program that can do this, and I'm sure that this has come up before but I searched around a few mins and figured I'd ask before I waste too much more time.

Thanks

its not hard to get one or two out.. but I want the entire collection done.. I deleted a lot of music and Its really time consuming to just sit there and click delete.. delete.. delete.. etc.. i'm looking for something that is a bit more automatic.

highlight the first song, scroll to the last, hold the shift key and click the final song -- it'll highlight every song in between.

The easiest way, is to select the songs you want gone in the Library window, and hit cmd + delete. If you're using iTunes 4, it will ask if you want to songs moved to the trash. Hit yes, and you're all set.

I agree, the easiest way is to just delete them from your Library in iTunes since it both deletes the entry in your playlist and also deletes them from your HD at the same time.

If you're on a PC, just select the first one and hit CTRL-A or go to EDIT and SELECT ALL. Then click and drag just a little. It will tell you which ones are missing. Delete those. You can do the same with the Mac version, but I'm not on my Mac right now, so I can't tell you if it's the same.

Or just delete them all from iTunes and re-import them.
