So I haven’t watched the TV News in about 4 years it’s all garbage. So I installed iPad OS, feels good, Safari is noteably slower than iOS 12 but hey they are working on it. The good far out weighs the bad.
So I was noticing a feeling of increased anxiety in myself, and realized I kept glancing over to the Today News app in the Home screen, and reading all the garbage news of the day and ads.
once I got rid of it not only is the anxiety gone, but apps load faster are quicker to respond and have to reload less.

Great tip.

My Mom’s iPad Pro 9.7 only has 2 GB RAM. I’ll probably have her do that.

What if your iPad has 4GB of RAM?

Aren’t these widgets always doing something in the background anyway? With you logic the iPad would run smoother in portrait mode as in landscape mode?

Why is news garbage? I find the more we know what's going on around us and the world, the more informed and better voters we are. I use my iPad to read a wide variety of news sources.

Because generally speaking, news isn’t what’s happening, it’s what the elite wants you to think about what’s happening.

I don’t use the news widget on iPad nor Apple Watch, I like the News app tho, for other kind of news about tech, games, sports, cars and self improvement.

I like to know what's going on in the world to be informed about issues that may affect me. The iPad lets me get news from all kinds of sources. If all you want to be informed about is tech, sports, and games, I sure hope you don't register to vote, because you wouldn't know what you're voting for or about.

That's exactly what I find the issue to be with people who do watch the mainstream media here in the UK...
