iPhone Get rid of Verizon on Phone?

I know that there are fake carriers and I have tried to eliminate the Verizon carrier name on my phone but it just doesn't happen. I think that works on AT&T phones but not Verizon. Has anyone got this to work? Let me know. Would like to put something else there.
