get the " black boot+white apple " screen on 2012 macbook non retina

hey everybody,

I have a Macbook Pro 15" 2012 model (the last one without retina ) and I really dig the black screen + white apple boot screen. now it's just grey. I saw a tutorial on Yosemite on how to do it yourself but I want to make sure if it's possible on El Capitan as well?

Use a LaunchDaemon. This is the easiest way to do it.

Here you can get the LaunchDaemon with explanations: https://github.com/dabrain13/DarkBoot-NVRAM

It works even with SIP enabled.

Thanks for your reply! It was very easy Only I still get the grey screen. am I missing something? the file is in the right place and terminal accepts the commands..

you can try to apply the correct permissions in terminal:

sudo chown root /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.dabrain13.darkboot.plist

and then load it:

sudo launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.dabrain13.darkboot.plist

Then restart

I now saw that the command said : path had bad ownership/permissions.

The manual indeed does not mention that the launch daemon must be owned by root in order to work. @dabrain13 should probably point that out.

yea he did, it worked like a charm! it's such a small thing but I really dig the look of it.
