I upgraded my MBP last year with some OWC ram, actually is was their NuRam brand, but regardless... I got bad ram. And a lot of other people did too. Thread here...

So, though I've bought numerous external drives from OWC over the past year or so, the RAM thing left a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm nervous about ordering RAM from them again. I ended up putting Crucial into the MacBook Pro from NewEgg and it ran like a champ. So naturally, I'm leaning Crucial.

But I like OWC as a company, and I like to give them my business.

Would you say that bad batch of RAM (thread link above will explain what I'm talking about) was just a fluke, and I've nothing at all to worry about ordering RAM again from OWC?

It likely was a fluke. Their stuff is pretty good in general, so if you like their company, I'd say go for it. If it's bad, send it back.

I got some for my MBP and it has worked great so far. I'd give them another go.

Used OWC in my 2007 Imac

Refurb i5 MBP purchased 3 months ago and it has 8G from OWC.

27" imac purchased last month, and it will get OWC ram if I ever want more (currently 8G, using the 2x2 from MBP, imac clocks runs all 4 DIMMs at 1066 but 8G is better then 4G at 1333 :)

Also ordered 2.5" HD, 2.5" case, and currently have some refurb/open box goodies coming my way from OWC. I tend to stick with known good vendors vs. trying to save that last 1 or 2% on things, and I have no reason to go away from OWC.

I understand having a bad taste but if they got a bad batch and did right by their customers, can you really ask for more?

Good point about the MBP ram. I just happen to have 2x2gb 1066 I pulled from my 2010 13". Maybe I'll just put that in for now while I weigh my options.

I upgraded my ram and bought it from OWC. I had a major problem waiting 4 days for it to get here. LOL. (I tend to want everything yesterday). In all seriousness, OWC is a great company with outstanding customer service. They are my first choice for anything my iMac desires.

Upgraded my iMac i5 with 8gb crucial RAM. Absolutely no issues or problems.

Upgraded my iMac with OWC RAM and haven't had a single problem.

Thanks everyone. Looks like the moral of the story is picking between OWC and Crucial is a good decision to be making because it's a win win.

I went with OWC. I like buying from them. I get stuff in 2 days from them. No tax. I dig it. I like their vibe. So they got my biz.

Well. I got my OWC RAM today and guess what? It's rebranded Crucial! I can see the Crucial sticker under the OWC sticker. Win-win.
