Just trying to get an idea of what 250 mb of data with the $15 AT&T plan would be. I've seen this described a bit ehre and in other forums and web sites, but seem to be missing how it applies to videos.

I'm not much for watching TV, but on occasion when tired of everything else, I've used HULU to watch an old TV show. With the iPad, the 3G would be useful when I'm traveling. There appears to be 3G coverage in the badlands of Idaho and Montana where I can't get Verizon phone coverage, thus the iPad with 3G will allow me to send messages home. Thus it may be useful for entertainment when taking a break from writing in the eavenings

So, what amount of data would a half hour show on hulu use up?

Thanks

even if you could watch hulu, you'd be hitting the 250mb cap very quickly watching video. depends on the video quality, but no more then 30min-hour and you'd reach you're limit.

Thanks for the info. I did forget to include a comment that I know that at this time the iPad without flash can't get videos on hulu, it was just an "as if" to get a handle on the amount of data involved.

Looks like no videos of any significance for the $15 plan. Not a problem. Don't do them now much, can wait.

Remember it just means no videos of any significance WHILE OUT OF WI-FI.

For the sake of comparison we get 6gb of data up here in Canada with Rogers for $30.

iPhone won't download anything over 10 MB on 3g. They make you use wifi.

I'm assuming ipad will work the same way.

Is there anything stopping Hulu from moving to HTML5, or even creating a simple iPhone / iPad app for watching Hulu?

Not really. I think they just have to convince themselves there is enough demand. Web developers @ Hulu aren't in the Flash business, they are in the content delivery business. They will write solutions to serve content to the most people and where the demand is high enough.
