Getting a Palm and iCal / Adress Book to talk...

I know that Apple says you're supposed to be able to sync your PDA up with these programs, but HOW is it done? I've got my Palm Tungsten T plugged into the back of my 1.42 PM via USB, but this is as far as I seem to get. I can't locate a help lesson that's on topic. Do I need to use the palm software? I want to AVOID using the "Palm Desktop" program, and use the Apple apps instead. I'm sure someone has asked this in the past, but I couldn't locate any old thread right on point. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Open iSync, and use iSync Help under the help menu to search for how to configure a Palm device. It'll explain how to configure the HotSync software to read from iCal and Address book instead of Palm Desktop. Palm Desktop MUST be installed on your machine to sync your Palm device! Once you've got it properly configured, you'll use iSync to synchronize your data.

You will need to install the Palm Hot Sync software that came with the Pam. You won't need the Desktop program but you will need the Hot Sync software. It is that program that alerts iSync to start up. iSync becomes a conduit for Palm Hot Sync. Hope this helps.

I really like the T. I had a Palm Vx before and replaced it with the T when that turned up "missing". It is smaller than the Vx due to its collapsing case - it also has the SD slot, built-in bluetooth, a fantastic color screen, a better place to hold the stylus, and a nifty navigation N, S, E, W controller button in the center. The construction is first rate - metal case that stands up well. The included apps allow for putting photos on the palm, or MS word / excel docs. I haven't had any real use for the latter, but it's a nifty option.

I have a cell phone that I really like and I'm not sure I want folks to expect me to email them right back so the T is great for me, but have you thought about going for the ultimate all-in-one with the Tungsten W? As you probably know, it's got the mini QWERTY keyboard (ala a RIM blackberry) with a built-in cell phone and wireless email option and like the T, it is quite small.

BACK TO THE INSTALL QUESTION -

BACK to my iSYNC question - okay, the palm software is loaded up and I'm supposed to go into the hotsync manager and from the conduit settings specify a palm device, but all I see are the over-write options (Mac over-wrights palm, palm over-writes Mac, etc.) There is no box to check to specify a palm device. Where have I gone astray???? Thanks again!
