All,

I'm fairly expereinced with these technical gliches, but this one seems to be puzzling me -

I've spent best part of a week sorting my 90gb ! Itunes library just how I want it, with albums, tracks, art, and compilation albums.!

This is the problem, when I attach my device(i pod touch) on the music tab (on the device tab) it only shows artists, and genres, playlists. It does NOT show albums, but the problems I have - How do I soley select a compilation album on my device when it is not in the artist list, and there is NO album list.

This is the only solution I can see - Set up a seperate playlist and putting the desired amount of compilation albums in that playlist and selecting that playlist tab.

Am I being stupid here !!!

Thanks

Andrew

Yes, and what's wrong with that solution?

In the ancient times of iTunes, i.e. a few month ago, playlists have been the only useful way to sync stuff. There are other ways to do it now, but the playlist solution is still the best IMO.

Thanks for the reply....It doesn't actaully solve my problem though.

Surely this is not the way I Tunes was designed to get a compilation album over to a device as setting it as a compilation album ( ie wihout showing the multiple atrist on the album )

I phone the apple help line, via a apple store number the chap fully understood my problem, and said it maybe a device setting issue, and not a I tunes issues.
He couldn't go any further as he needed my serial number ( i don't have the device with me !!! DOP )

Any further help would be kindly appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Again, what's wrong with the playlist solution?

Either I do not understand your problem or you're making a mountain out of a molehill.

I hate the way itunes does compilations and soundtracks. The best thing I've been able to come up with is to rename all the songs in the compilation to "song title : artist" and name the artist "compilation album 7" or whatever, and tell the songs that they are not part of a compilation. Another issue is that it tends to group non compilations in with compilations, seemingly at random; for example I want all my David Bowie to be in the Bowie folder, not have everything in the Bowie folder except Changes, which got put into compilations for some reason. I just avoid it altogether.

If you touch the 'More' option in the bottom right corner of the ipod app you can list music by album.

The problem with playlists is that they're a hassle to create, especially for 100gb of music. Why should we have to create them?

create an intelligent playlist, select 'compilation' as criteria, select 'yes' and voila you got all compilations in one playlist. anyways, better re-enter the compilation's name in the 'album artist' field and you should be able to select the album.

regards.
