Hello there

I’m facing an issue with my right AirPods Pro. It’s like an interference noise when I walk, when there is wind or when a supercar passes by (today was one Ferrari, a M5 and a Lamborghini).

So I contacting Apple Support and I’m getting them replaced, as the issue is now appearing on the left one.

my main concern is regarding firmware. They are 2C54 but if the new ones have a different firmware version, will that be compatible?

I got my replacement with the previous firmware and I don’t know if it’s a placebo effect or because of reading here, I seem to feel that ANC is much better

You won't have issues with firmware with your replacements.

They are sending out a replacement and a box to send back the originals, did anyone else have a hold of about £265 placed on their card? I phoned Apple back and they said the hold is placed in case I don’t send back the original pair.

Placing a hold is normal, happened to me as well. It goes away once they receive the originals.

it says “replacement product pending“ at the moment. I assume that they are sending out new AirPod Pros and not referbs! Once I send my originals back to them, do i get to keep the replacement they have sent me?

I paid the hold fee, but I just noticed it’s gone to my direct debit rather than my credit card. I’m guessing if the money is taken out, they will refund me once they get my original AirPods.

Yes, that status actually never changed for me but they removed the hold from my account. I paid with CC and the hold was pending that eventually went away. Not sure what happens if you pay with debit. The replacement airpods pro look new but since the packaging is not original it doesn't feel like it. The replacements are meant to be kept.

I just got an update to say that the replacements were on the way. Also it says ‘Return original part by: March 21st 2020“ Courior UPS and then it gives the tracking number. Hopefully they send the box and I can just request a pick up from my home to send them the AirPods back.

My replacements arrived yesterday, they are brand new. I was very surprised to see that 3 packages arrived, the left earbud was in one, the right in another and the charging case was in the 3rd and final package, that is ridiculous why not just send them in one box :eek:

To make matters worse, they sent me 3 return UPS plastic bags, i had to put my right AirPods in one, the left AirPod in another and the charging case in the final package. UPS came and collected the packages. The amount of plastic waste is absurd. Especially for a company like Apple that talk about recycling plastic waste :oops:

When I had mine replaced they sent a huge box, with 2 bubble mailers (left and right).
Put a hold on my CC.

But when I went to the repair status web site it said not to send the old ones back!

Then the hold became an actual charge :(

Call up Apple and the see that it was processed as a warranty replcement instead of a DIY repair.
So one by one (a day apart) the charges were refunded.

So I needed to send the old ones back, but no shipping label was included.

Back on the phone with Apple...cause I don't want to charged again.

Apple - ok we'll contact the 'other' department and you'll hear from them in 3 days.
I hoped so cause the 10 day window was coming to an end.

I get an email from Apple....no need to send back the old ones....so far so good a week later

Wow that is not good at all. My replacement arrived yesterday, however as you can see from my previous post, They sent 3 packages. Putting the right AirPod in one package, the left in the other and them the charging case in the final one is ridiculous and uses a silly amount of plastic. Not only that but i have then had to send my old ones back, the right one in one packet and so on. I arranged collection yesterday and UPS picked them up.

I have checked this morning via UPS tracking and it just says "Delivered, left at dock received by SHARMA" LUTTERWORTH GB.

I'm now waiting for them to release the hold on my direct debit since they have now received them.

update: it’s been around 6 hours, there’s no update on the my support page that they have even received them, ev3n tho ups tracking says they have. I’m hoping this is nothing to worry about, the hold is still on my debit card as well.

My repair status though doesn’t reflect this and says “we are waiting to receive the original part”. Do you remember how long it took for authorisation hold to reverse and how long it took to update? It took a few days for me, they sent out the replacement ones and I obviously had to send the faults ones back. They release the hold within about 5 working days.

I had mine replaced at the Apple store yesterday, but they only replaced the AirPods, not the case.
I have not had any problems with the current case. I was told my AirPods didn't have the particular problem that they were replacing then for but still didn't pass so they replaced them anyways.

The hold on my credit card (Apple Card) for replacing the left AirPod Pro was removed within about an hour or two that I dropped the return Fedex package off at Walgreens (who handle Fedex for pre-paid packages). I was impressed it was removed that quickly.
