I have a canon A40 digital camera that makes "mini-movies". I recently switched from 9 to panther and didn't bother installing the proprietary canon photo program in leiu of iPhoto. But when I import, the .avi files do not come over. Is there a way to import these without resorting to the canon software again? I don't have a CF card reader either to mount the card and drag it off. Thanks.

When you plug your camera just minimize iPhoto or go to your finder you will see your camera as a removable drive...just open it to the appropriate folder and copy all your .avi to your drive.

I dont think iPhoto is able to extract video files from i camera. After all, it is iPHOTO ;)

However, Image Capture works like a charm doing this.

i have a canon powershot sd110, and the camera does not show up as a removeable drive. however, i use imagecapture to get my movies. just open ImageCapture, choose "download some..." or "download all". if you chose to only download some, you should see the name and first frame of the movie you want with a .avi extension. let us know if you need any more help.
