I'm not a fan of the YouTube app for the Ipad. The lack of full search filters and the poor quality of 3G and even wifi streaming is my biggest gripe regarding my iPad purchase....
I've managed a workaround...and have a question... To have a better YouTube experience, I use Safari, not the app, and select the "Desktop" connection at the bottom of Youtube's homepage. It appears to trick Youtube into sending a non-mobile stream, and I find less buffeting. Plus you get the better search filtering.
The only problem, minor, is having to hit the tiny play button to launch the video. I'm wondering if someone knows how to make the player automatically stream?

The desktop version requires Flash to play videos...
