After they messed the standard calculator up recently I removed it from my screen. I'm quite sure I didn't delete it completely, but it's gone.

If I swipe left and type in "Calculator" it comes back, but there is no option to restore it. ???

I’m a bit confused as to what you’re trying to do. Are you talking about just having a shortcut to the Calculator app on your screen? Just drag where you see it in the app drawer to wherever you want the shortcut.

If it’s something else you’re asking, my apologies

The phone came with a calculator which was great; but a week or so an update made it mostly unusable so I installed another one, which works fine. I moved the original off my home screen, I'm pretty sure I didn't delete it completely.

I would like to have the original app back on my home screen but it doesn't exist anywhere as an icon. But if I go to "Search" and type "Calculator," the original app shows up and is usable -- however there are no options to put the icon back on my home screen, or install it again, or whatever. If I move away from it, then to get it back, I have to go back to "Search" and repeat the above.

It'll be in App Library (swipe all the way to the left). Probably in the "Utilities" section but possibly in the "Hidden" section. Drag it from there to wherever you want it to be.

I’m curious 🧐
Which update made the calc unusable? Because I never experienced the issue

iOS 18's calculator was re-written, a lot of which is actually terrific - built in unit conversion and so forth.

But some features were eliminated, which has a small (but vocal) subset of users clutching their pearls in agony. For example, 10+10===== doesn't continue adding 10 like it apparently used to.

Wow… first world problems 😅
