Anyone getting fed up with the iPhone X?

I’m an avid Apple user but several months on from the iPhone X’s release I’m getting tired of constantly swiping up. I actually miss the home button and find the Face ID quite annoying. Also the downgrade from the iPhone 8 Plus’ bigger screen is a pain.

Tempted to get the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 just for a change. Anyone else feel the same?

Nope, loving all the features of the iPhone X. Face ID is very convenient in day-to-day use. Never missed the home button. iOS 12 would be more optimized of the X, giving user a better experiment *Hopefully*. Personally, I think I am fine with the size of the screen.

Not at all. I really like the iPhone X and the home button Missing hasn't been an issue. Gesture controls is quick once you're past the learning curve. Face ID isn't perfect, but neither was Touch ID, that's how technology is.

I can understand the iPhone X is not for everyone, but do you think you would be comfortable switching to entirely different platform just because you don't like just The missing home button and Face ID? Android is a completely different experience. Have you ever used Android before?

Anyone? I’m sure a few do. I love my X. I found the new interface very intuitive and Face ID to be very respsoive. In fact it often is ahead of my actions, anticipating my needs.

The screen is only a fraction of a percent smaller. But, the X packs more pixels than the 8+. Depending on how you use it the X has a lot more usable space unless the app hasn’t yet been optimized. But that will be sorted out in time.

Different strokes for different folks. Some people are more resistant or incapable of adapting to change. I’m not sure how “swiping up” would tire one out. But if it’s a problem by all mealy should investigate different options.

I personally dislike the Note series since I have zero use for the S-Pen, but I have to admit that Samsung seems much more transparent and consumer friendly than Apple lately. Even though they had a setback with the Note 7 battery fiasco, the way they handled it (being upfront and completely owning their mistake) was miles better than Apples shady behavior recently.

The upcoming Galaxy S9 also seems fantastic. The S8 was already a great phone and the S9 will be even better. The fingerprint sensor will now be in the right spot, it'll have stereo speakers, a bigger battery, faster 845 processor, better camera, etc. Samsung Pay is also much MUCH better than Apple Pay since it works nearly everywhere with both NFC and MST capabilities. Oh and best of all... no throttling virus like iPhones have :p

I'm gonna stick with my 6s for awhile though since it still works good for the moment. I'm a minimalist at heart and really dislike being wasteful / buying unnecessary things if I already have a working solution. I'll probably just replace the battery on my 6s by the end of 2018 for $29 (before Apple increases the price back up to $79). Hoping that the new battery will then keep it going strong for a few more years until Apple starts to artificially degrade its performance, and once they do I'll simply switch to a new platform.

I use an iPhone 7 for work and had a S8 Plus for my personal phone. Purchased the X to replace the S8 Plus and LOVE it! It is my opinion that people upgrading from an Android phone to the X are going to be the happiest. I love the screen, size, and gestures. My wife on the other hand has used only iPhones is not really the biggest fan. She likes the home button and the gestures are odd to her. I’m sure she would adjust to them but it is different so it does take adjustment.

Love Face ID on the X. But and it’s a big but, if I would have realized how lousy the navigation of this phone is in landscape mode I would have passed on the X. Can’t go back now.

In my car I use the X in landscape mode 99% of the time. App icons do not rotate. Some apps even some Apple native apps do not rotate. Sure, the X has so much processing power, you can leave countless apps open but the dumb app switcher slider bar is a pain to navigate while switching in landscape mode. Some apps slide left to right and back but if the app doesn’t rotate, now I’m looking at it sideways and sliding up or down.

I try to kill an app but swiping up now only minimizes the app. You need to press, hold, and then swipe up to kill an app.

Try to use Siri in my car to switch apps; works great as long as the phone is awake. Sleeping? Siri doesn’t work. She says phone must be unlocked first. So, to unlock my phone I need to take my phone out of the cradle rotated the X to portrait mode, touch the phone with my thumb to wake it up swipe up until Face ID recognizes me and then it’s open. Try to do that while I’m driving. And keep your opinions to yourself about how I’m not supposed to use my phone when I’m driving, don’t want to hear it.

I had zero issues with my now long gone iPhone 6s Plus. Very un-Apple like user interface, very disappointing.

Whoa let's not make rash decisions like jumping to Android . It sounds like it's too late for you to return the iPhone X, but you could sell it and buy yourself an iPhone 8 Plus. I personally am holding on to my luscious jet black iPhone 7 Plus until the next round of iPhones are released.

There’s nothing I can say that hasn’t already been expressed about how excellent I find the X to be for me. No, I’m not tired of it nor do I want to get rid of it AND i have a Note 8 and prefer X.

No, I find Face ID and swiping up to be an improvement all around from Touch ID and the home button.

Not even close. Like everything about the X so far. I bought it because of the home button removal. Why the need to go to the home screen so often? I usually want one of the already open apps.

Why would you even interject this frivolous statement into the thread about Apple not being transparent Regarding the throttling issue? It has zero relevance and No benefit to what the OP is asking at all reference the X and there are the threads dedicated to this topic solely.

The OP is thinking about going from Apple to a different phone manufacturer (Samsung). I gave my honest opinion on the matter and my reasoning behind why I think that's a good idea and how I might go that same route in the future. By all means though feel free to move on as I personally don't need your input and didn't ask for your response :)

I'm aware that the OP is considering Samsung, I also offered my own stance with the transition to Android. But your comment about the transparency with the throttling Reference Apple has zero relevance to Android itself. Again, not every thread has to have the battery throttling interjected when it's completely irrelevant to the thread topic itself.

Feel free to skip my post though if you don't agree as I didn't ask you to reply to mine

Isn't that part of discussion? Is if I don't agree with something, that I can share my own opinion on something that I disagree with you on that has no relevance to the nature of your previous post that I quoted you on? No need to be Dismissive otherwise telling me to "I didn't ask you." That's not conducive behavior to discussion.

Wether swiping up or pressing the home button you need a way to activate your phone, I much prefer the swipe. Some say the swipe is annoying and that step should be skipped, but I notice that when I pick up my ipx to put in my pocket I notice that the phone picks up my face and unlock. Without the swipe I'll be pocket dialling people or opening apps or have to turn the phone off constantly before I put it in my pocket
