My thoughts after a while of ownership:
1) Fast, fluid, notably more so than my 7 Plus. That said, after updating from 11.2 (came stock w/ that), I noticed stutters in the UI - this was RIGHT after updating and it did not occur before.
2) Fantastic speakers
3) Fantastic camera
4) Good, but not great battery life. It'll last me through a workday, but I have to charge before leaving the house again at night.
5) Notch has not been that bothersome, but a few of my apps have not been updated
6) Fantastic display
7) FaceID is good, but it fails much more often than I'd like. I think I still have some getting used to to do. When it works, it's great.
