Hi guys,

I'm looking at getting my first mac notebook, either Macbook Pro or Macbook.

I was original going to buy a Macbook with an XP machine gaming rig, and use my mac for internet/multimedia stuff and the XP for games.

However, looking up the macbook pro with boot camp, it seems it runs bf2 and the like quite well!

Now I'm unsure on my decision, I could get the macbook with an XP machine, or a macbook pro and install XP on it for my games.

Anyone got any insite into either decision? Unsure what to do...

Cheers!

well, since you have the PC for gaming already, you should get the macbook. you could save a lot of money on upgrades. if you wanted, you could also get a mbp, then sell the PC. whatever you get, upgrade the memory, 1gb min.

I presume you want a PC because you're a fan of PC games in particular, otherwise you could just get a maxed out MacBook and an Xbox 360.

I'd suggest getting the PC for your Windows games to be honest. Not only will a tower be better cooled but you've got room for expansion for future gaming needs and a full keyboard, mouse and monitor that will undoubtedly be more comfortable. Then have your MacBook for everything else.

Sorry, I meant I don't have the PC at present, was going to buy a dell 5150 with a decent GPU along with a macbook.
if you got a PC with a decent GPU AND a decent monitor, you'll probably spend more than the $700 difference between the 2.0 ghz MacBook and low-end MBP. That's one thing to consider.

If you have some extra cash AND you're a hard-core gamer, you should get yourself a desktop that you can upgrade the GPU over time. You might even consider the low-end MacBook for $1099 which leaves you with a bit more play room for your gaming rig. The GPU on the MBP, while decent, won't match what you'll get on a modest desktop GPU.

I'd get the mbp. Having two computers can really be a drag when you don't need too. You're one of those people who would really benefit from the mbp. If you already had a pc it'd be a different story, but why buy two computers when one can do it all?

Cheers for the reply guys.

PC is swaying because of the upgrade possibiltys...but I'm on the move a lot, that's why I was thinking about getting the pro for games too.

Think I'm going for the PC/macbook option after more thinking, else something comes up, cheers guys! :)

Good choice, its exactly what I'm doing as well. I've got amy XP machine for my gaming, and then I got a MacBook for everything else.
