No I don't need a link to the signup forum what I am wondering is how likely do people think it is that they will get into the beta.

When a beta comes out for windows one would assume machines with specs that stand out from others would have a garunteed in because they would probably be a problem group.

That being said macs don't vary allot in hardware configurations unless you go out of your way for aftermarket alterations.

I'm probably one of a few hundred thousand people with a mbp 4,1 but you have to consider that while the 4,1 exists in a hardware tween there is still the chance that I'm to anonymous for anything other than the grace of first come first serve.

They either random pick or since you had to answer questions before applying and login with your steam account choose who has the best profile (Gametime, others betas etc) and also look at what OSX you are running

I submitted the specs for my Hackintosh.

Maybe I'll get lucky and one of the Valve folks that reviews the submissions will be a fellow Hackintosher and I'll get picked.

Most likely, submissions are divided into groups based on hardware type, then a number of each group are randomly chosen to join the beta.

I'm sure they want a lot of play time; then they would want to test as many variations of hardware as possible. They'd probably want the more the better I would think to get the best results, but not too many that it would hard to track bugs; also you have to account for people who sign up, say they will test, but never actually test or submit bug reports (either because they didn't test, decided it's easier to give up, or just wanted the beta but don't care about helping).
