On my older two (4gb Mini, 30gb Video) iPods I have never really worried much at all about cover art since it didn't really play as much into it with the much smaller screens. With the iPhone though, I found myself wanting to not have so many songs with just the default background so I got iTunes to look for artwork and tracked down the missing artwork for the albums that I have on the iPhone myself. I then went through and updated the artwork for those albums in iTunes manually (in iTunes itself, not selecting the files on the on the iPhone), figuring that it was better to do it in the central place where the files originated. However- it seems that when you sync it iPhone it doesn't pick up the changed files and update them on the iPhone so they have the artwork.

Is there a setting someplace to change this, or am I going to have to go through and manually update the artwork both on the iPhone and my iTunes library? I have the library set to be manually managed in the iPhone BTW.

Thanks!

You have to make sure if it is an entire albumn say 9 songs that you highlight all nine and add the albumn art to them all. If you just pick the first one only show for that one. So if it is only showing up for a the one song that could be it. Mine all show up on the phone and not sure if there is a setting to be changed. Good luck

I've got the updating all of the songs in an album down, the problem I'm having is that when I sync the phone, iTunes isn't updating the artwork on the songs already on the phone that I've updated the artwork on in iTunes (in the iTunes library).

Breaking the process down more specifically, it went like this:

Have existing iTunes library.
Got new iPhone- went through and hand-picked songs (can't fit 55GB of songs in a 16GB iPhone, wouldn't want them all anyway) and loaded them onto the iPhone.
Realize, "Crap, many of these don't have their artwork."
Use 'Find Artwork' in iTunes- this seems to have updated the art on the iPhone properly.
Many albums (more obscure, not on iTMS) the artwork wasn't found for.
Found artwork files myself, update the artwork on my iTunes library.
Sync iPhone
Artwork for the updates I just did in iTunes not showing up on the iPhone

I had the exact same issue. After spending hours cleaning up all my cover art, it wouldn't sync. I looked online and found a tip and now it works no problem. When you find the picture you want to use online as a cover art, save it on your computer (I put mine in the album folder). Then in iTunes, highlight all of the songs in the album and then go into the info and double click on the cover art box and direct it to the right file. Once I did this, it synced no problem and everything showed up.
