Getting Mac Pro 2013 in 2018?

Cant believe that Mac Pro will going to be 5 years old computer already in 2018.

I have classic Mac Pro 2010 with custom parts. It is not that satisfying due to the performance for Adobe programs like lightroom and photoshop since I usually handle large amount of files and each files are quite huge. Yeah waiting for one image is quite time consuming but still happy to have it since I got Mac Pro for just $175 from school

I start worrying about the power supply which might gonna die soon. I could get a power supply separately but I would require to get better Mac pro within 2~3 years. Of course that I can not afford the next gen Mac Pro 2018 or later.

Mac Pro 2013 seem to be quite cheaper than before for both used and new items. Btw I do mostly for photography and rarely for video. I already have Adobe RGB monitor so iMac is not an option to me. for $3~4000, will it be worth it to get Mac Pro 2013 in 2018 for my uses?

I'm not sure what makes you think you won't be able to afford the new Mac Pro when pricing hasn't even been announced yet. I certainly wouldn't spend $4,000 on a 2013 nMP if the newer Mac Pro is out and pretty close to the same price.

No use asking this question yet, just wait and see what develops, what the prices will be, etc. If you need a new Mac in 2018 and the new Mac Pro isn't out yet then you'll know what to do. If you can continue to wait then I'd wait and see for more solid launch info and prices.

Short Answer - No

Personally would suggest that seriously consider with your usage that look at Windows 10.

As your requirements stated are Adobe which as Lightroom and Photoshop then you can run these on Windows as well.

Windows 10 providing install it, get it setup how you want then leave it is perfectly fine and stable. You can get a lot more hardware and more flexibility for your money that way as well.

Whilst may prefer Mac OS X to Windows how much time are you spent at the OS and how much time in the Applications that using.

Yeah, basically what those guys said. Also, the value of the current MP will drop like a stone once a new MP comes out in 2019 / 2018.

Im already optimized with MacOS so far. I really dont wanna do formatting in Window OS. I used Mac computers for 5 years and none of them ever run slow.

Get a well built Windows tower machine with modern tech for your heavy duty apps. You can still have one of the newer Mac laptops and still be less money.

I have an old 2008 MP that I use (Video) and Uncompressed 10bit files @29GB, R3D raw etc are not uncommon. Without specific RAID speeds and the current AMA plugs it would not be possible. Have compared your "custom parts" with others that may get better results using the same MP, apps and file sizes?

An example pertaining to Avid. Let's say we have identical setups. In my timeline I can play R3D 4K files with no problems. You say to yourself "how in the world is he playing R3D files and my timeline stutters"? The difference would only be the latest R3D AMA plugin. I have it and files play. You don't have it and your files stutter! I keep editing and you look to a new computer!
It may not be that simple in your case but in the example that I stated it would be!

iMac is def slower especially at 5k. Using dual monitor in that case would be terrible. And it does not support Adobe RGB. Each files are quite huge and handling 50,000 would require better computer.

I guess we're all optimists in that we're assuming Apple will have something for us in 2018.

If yours is still not broken then there is no need to worry. When it eventually does, the 2018 may have already released, or you could just source another second hand cMP which you can simply plug the drives in and they will just work (probably minimal work in swapping firmware though).
