I'm finally upgrading my old iBook G4 800Mhz.. Getting a MacBook C2D 2Ghz today via FedEx! Just wondering if you all have any tips, like should I reformat and reinstall OS right away? Any suggestions of must-have software? Do I need to run something to help keep the machine at a lower temp? etc???? Thanks. Oh, and is the MacBook going to feel so much faster than my iBook that I won't feel too sick about the $h1ty integrated graphics? Or will I be throwing up all night? I'm not really a gamer but would like to do Google Earth, X-Plane, and light iMovie/Final Cut Express stuff. I guess I'll know in about an hour.

Unfortunately I don think it will handle X-Plane very well. Even I cant have max settings on my PMG5 dual 1.8 with 2GB Ram and 256VRAM.

Yea, I was afraid of that cuz the X-Plan page says it needs a good GPU. Oh well, I'll eBay this thing after a few months.
i would download Growl Notification and the plugin that allows you to see message previews from Mail http://growl.info/. Flip 4 Mac is a must for playing wmv videos in quicktime and in safari http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherproducts/otherproducts.aspx?pid=windowsmedia. Also handbrake http://handbrake.m0k.org/?page_id=24 is a cool program to rip dvd into mpeg 4 video. This is especially good if you have a ipod video and want to watch dvds on it.
I was just about to post a thread just like this. What is that app that lets you control the fan and do you really need it for the macbook.

smcFan Control you can control the speed of your fans on your macbook. Great so it won't get so hot.
