Hi

I have the following questions about Mobile me:

1) What is the advantage to using the mobileMe email address?
2) Can I retain my RCN email address?
3) Do I need to forward my RCN email to my mobileMe account?
4) Alternatively, do I need to forward my MobileMe email to my RCN account?
5) How can friends access your calendar on Mobileme? Do they need an account?
6) We have two iPhones and one Mac and friends who need to access our calendars. Do we need a Family pack?
7) Can I use apple Mail to read my mobileMe mail on the computer?

Thanks so much

Jay

1. You get Push email (great if you have an iPhone).
2. No, you have to use your MobileMe address. Of course, you could forward any email from your RCN email to MobileMe.
3. Aye.
4. Depends what you want to do - I'd try out MobileMe, and if you like it, then maybe slowly transition your email to your MobileMe.
5. They can't - why would you want your friends to view your calendar?
6. Again, why do they need access to your calendars?
7. Of course. And you can view it on your iPhone too.

If you want your friends to be able to view your calendar, you can publish them in iCal (Calendar menu > Publish) then pass out the link.

Added Mobileme setup questions

1) How does PUSH work and HOW is it used?
2) Since this will be a family pack, can I control who has access to which calendar?

Thanks,

Jay

1) It instantly (or nearly instantly) updates your Mac with new changes of calendars, contacts, bookmarks, or email from your iphone, or vice versa.

2) You don't need a family pack. Get a regular pack, and publish your calendars in iCal (right click on the specific calendar, click publish). It then gives you a link, which you can send to whoever you want to see that calendar. There's no option for a password, but you can just send that calendar's link to only the people you want to allow to see your calendar.

More MobileMe Setup Questions

Thanks for the repplies so far.

If Bobdard is correct, can we still use a single Mobileme account with two Iphones, one Mac and three calendars? If so, how would things be synched?

TIA

Jay

Yes. Everything will be synced and when someone checks email or updates a calendar on one phone, that will be reflected on the other phone.

As far as I know, you can sync as many calendars as you want. The other people who are subscribed to your calendar(s) will not be able to make changes to it, but will be able to see every event you add/modify.
