Has anyone noticed this? Pretty odd that a full restore to a new iPad gets your wallpaper, your email configuration, your apps all get installed, etc, but somehow the page of Favorites don’t get the icons associated with them. I see a few get populated as I’m using the iPad but even days later most are still the generic “first letter of the site” icon.

They are temporary files stored in the browsers cache. As soon as you revisit those sites the icons will be pulled from the website.

It wouldn’t make sense to store this sort of data in a backup.

OK thanks - it just doesn't seem to even be doing it after visiting the sites. I'll try hitting the sites multiple times.

It’s still not refreshing them, despite multiple visits to the sites. Including this site’s icon.

This is really an odd thing for Apple to continuously drop the ball on. Such an easy thing.

I have the same exact issue on my new iPad. It does reload the icons if I click them one by one. But soon some of the icons are randomly lost and this all starts over again.

Yep - same here. About 10% of them are populated now at any one point in time, but it’s not always the same ones. Some that had icons lose them. Super odd behavior and such an easy thing to fix.

They all come back over time, mine are doing so right now. I have several folders of web sites in Favorites and just now when I tapped on one of the folders the icons for the sites that have them all filled in. If you use folders you have to have it opened for this to occur. I’ve seen this with every iOS device, I always get them all back.

I don’t use folders in that - didn’t even know you could. I wonder if having them all in that one location makes it take longer…

Yep. All my favourite icons remain blank even after visiting each site several times a day. This wasn’t a thing on my 2018 IPP.

iPadOS 15 fixed this for me. 14 never got it right.
I wonder what the difference is. Mine have been back since I got my new iPP. It has taken a bit of time with new devices or a new ios but I’ve never seen them not all come back. I’m curious about ios 15 but planning to wait till it’s finally released.

I’ve been watching them - when I have a Safari open and haven’t had to reboot the iPad or kill Safari they’ll start gradually filling in, to the point maybe 1/3rd to 1/2 of them are icons again, but they’ll all be gone next time and it starts over.
