Getting photos from the ipad to PC

HELP PLEASE!!!!! I have an ipad but am not a mac user. I have been scanning and emailing very high definition photos to my ipad and there adjusting image quality etc. Now, I want to get them off the ipad and onto my PC in high quality. Can ANYONE tell me how to get the photos over? Emailing them back to myself really isn't a good option as I am talking about hundreds upon hundreds of photos. Uploading to igallary is available, but again, not really the best path. Isn't there a direct connection method? Something in itunes that lets me get them from the backup?

I'm a Mac user, but I think when you plug your iPad into your PC, you should get an option window that asks what you want to do. You should have the option to open the device to view files which will open the the photos folder and you can drag and drop like any USB drive. Look here for instructions:

You could always use dropbox which I use to sync my iPad, iPhone and PC.
Works very well over WiFi and best of ...it's free

I use the transfer app in the app store. It costs a few bucks but works great for easy transfer on, off, or between devices. It's so simple to use.
