I'm under no illusions that I'll get the full 300MB/s that SATAII is rated at, but 150MB/s write speed seems too low. Am I managing my expectations appropriately, or is 150MB/s standard fare for the 1,1 with the SSD installed in a drive bay with the NewerTech Adaptadrive?

I'm getting here speeds with a Samsung EVO in my 5.1 cMP in a drive Bay.

Assuming the SSD has at least 20% empty space. I will do 2 things.

1) Check the spec of the SSD, find out the expected write speed

2) Check if TRIM is enabled, if not, enable it

Just have a quick check of the V300 (120G) on Google. OP's write speed is normal for Incompressible data. It's the expected behaviour of the SandForce controller.

Thanks, all y'all. I contacted Kingston, and they're going to replace the drive. They market this drive as a 450MB/s drive, so there's no way they should be able to give me a drive doing 150MB/s and claim 450MB/s. I'll let you all know how I fare with the new drive.

Unfortunately, I think you'll find there is nothing wrong with that drive. The replacement will behave the same, mark my words.
