Howdy folks. Im a bit of a hobbyist. I just purchased a mid 2012 mac pro that had Sierra pre installed on it I plan to put Mojave on it. I updated Firmware to MP51.0089.B00 and installed High Sierra as i have read is the procedure. No problems. I have an RX580 Saphire Pulse ready to go into it ( waiting on power cable ) I want to make sure i do the next steps properly.
My understanding is i install graphics card. Boot up computer and download Mojave from App store ( already downloaded ). Then start install.
Questions:
Will it automatically do the firmware update that is needed for Mojave 144.0.0.0.0 ? Not sure if this firmware needs to happen before installing card )
Will it automatically change format from HFS+ to APFS on drive ?

I apologize in advance. I read one of the post's https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-bootrom-upgrade-instructions-thread.2142418/
A little over whelming and couple things im confused on. I would appreciate any advice you folks could give. Thanks.

yes, you have to install the RX580 before you install Mojave.
Although the thread you refer to seems overwhelming, the answers to your questions are all there.

Yes, there are lots of posts in this thread. And it's probably better to ask any questions there rather than start a new one. So people who will have the same situation as you can benefit, and you can benefit from people who have gone before you.
Keep in mind that you are pushing a system beyond it's original design spec, and there is no official support. With that in mind, you're the expert, or need to be! The update for many (most?) went pretty easily, but there are nooks and crannies that snagged more than a few. It's best you get any confusion clarified and advice from there.
