I'm getting ready to set up my new PM15 on Friday. what are your thoughts on using the "Device to Device" method or a "Back Up from iCloud" to transfer everthing over. Device to Device seems simpler but ties up the old phone and might take longer. Thoughts?

I've used the device to device method it's kind of slow and don't want to be in the store forever. I use iCloud backup and reset the phone and login to get access to wallet, then I reset in store on Friday. restore at home.

I have always done a restore from Finder encrypted backup. I was going to try the direct transfer this year, but I hear it is rather slow. I am wondering if the finder computer restore will actually be faster this year if I use my own USB-C 3.1 gen2 cable as opposed to lightning? You'd think it would transfer at 10GBps rather than 480MB.
I have been told the direct transfer will take over your Apple Watches without the need to unpair/repair. I always have to re-pair after the Finder direct transfer. I guess it will be a game-time decision for me. I will see how long the estimated time of the direct transfer is. I have 289GB used on my phone. If direct transfer is an hour or less, I think I will try it.
I am hoping the eSim will transfer from my 13PMax to new 15PMax correctly without having to call Xfinity or drive to the store.

Setting up as new. No restore from back up for me. Only things, which return from iCloud itself like photos, contacts, health data etc.

Setting up new things is half the fun to me 😅
