I understand that in order to do a customize iMac [27 inch i5 Quad] I have to order through apple store. I was thinking of getting the 2TB drive instead of 1. As I know the 1TB would fill up pretty quick [encoding home videos from a few camcorders and those 14MP pictures fill up quick] I use Win7 with 12 1 tb drives on RAID 0 &1. For memory I can probably install it myself since I know it is quick easy... but the hard drive part is more tricky....or install an external? would that cause any slowdown... since I hear many experiencing slowdown from having an external using the FW800. Thanks

FireWire 800 is slower than SATA 3Gb/s but most mechanical hard drives aren't much faster than FireWire 800 is so for storing movies and photos, external is just fine
