Greetings all, I've lurked on this forums for a while now (mostly ever since the late 8800GT video card fiasco), but I figured it'd be time to ask for some help on this.
Diablo III's announcement, with it's lush, beautiful graphics, (Shame on you Blizzard, SHAME! You can have rainbows in WoW, but keep that beyond 256 colors garbage out of my demon grinding game!), interesting gameplay aspects, et cetera, caught my interest in the series. I admit to never having played any of the games at the time of their original release dates, but I figured it's about high time I did. I picked up a copy of the Battle Chest recently with aspirations to play through the two games.
Anyways, I got Diablo II to work in XP (My computer's a Mac Pro, 8-Core. I can give more specs on request if they're relevant for some reason). I tried to get it to operate properly in OS X (10.5.3), but I could never succeed (I saw the posts about having to hold down the option key and switch from OpenGL to Software mode, the game always crashed before I received the options window in order to make the switch), so I basically gave up on it. I installed the original Diablo with intentions to run it in XP as well, but it simply crashes after the Blizzard logo.
So I guess my question is, anyone have any ideas how to get the original Diablo to work? My idea was to use an emulator. I tried Sheep Shaver, and the game ran, but with unsatisfactory results (Chunky framerate, choppy sound, laggy). I'm not aware of any other emulators that operate in OS X that emulate a PowerPC processor, and I'm unfamiliar with the process of configuring an emulator to run an early Pentium computer.
Any help, or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
